Qinghai Salt Industry Co., Ltd. is one of the important units in the salt lake sector of Western Mining Group Co., Ltd., a Fortune 500 company in China. It owns two natural salt lakes, Chaka and Keke, with salt reserves of about 1 billion tons. After nearly 70 years of development, the company has become the main salt industry enterprise in the province integrating production, transportation and sales, and is one of the top 100 salt mining and salt production enterprises in China. The raw materials of the company's products come from the Chaka Salt Lake and Keke Salt Lake in the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau that were formed 120 million years ago. The Salt Lake is located in one of the four pollution-free and ultra-clean zones in the world. It is a high-altitude, pollution-free natural open-pit salt mine. The NaCl content of the products is above 96%, which meets the highest national quality standards for edible salt. It is famous for its excellent quality, salty and fresh taste, and pure taste. Some products of "Chaka Salt" have been recognized as green food grade A products by the China Green Food Development Center. In December 2009, Chaka Salt became the first product in China's lake salt industry to receive national geographical indication protection.
